“Violence against women in the world continues spreading in different forms, including domestic violence, cultural traditions, war crimes. In spite of existing international treaties and protocols women and girls die as a result of governmental neglect of the problems. The main obstacle in my understanding is that there are not enough political will and truly deep believe in value of women as equal citizens in any society. Unfortunately “politically correct” statements and interests replace what is truly needed and do not allow grass-roots voices to be heard. Most of the existing international treaties are not binding, have quite long time for processing and are not effective in terms of distance and gaps in implementation between international, national and local levels. I am in favor of a global binding norm on VAW.”
