“Violence against women (VAW) has over the years given rise to increased health concerns among women of all ages all over the world especially as it relates to women’s reproductive health issues. Women have been raped, contracted HIV and battered leading to their hospitalization. This in some cases has resulted to death of women concerned. VAW is contributory to increase in maternal mortality related death among women and girls of all ages. This therefore calls for a global binding norm on VAW to fight gender based violence at all levels.”
