“It is a shame to humanity that women are subjected to discrimination and undue suffering across the globe. Though most countries have endorsed CEDAW and have laws and constitutions supporting equity, women are not safe. In fact in recent years, violence against women has increased and has taken new forms and expressions with technological advancements. With more and more women getting educated, aware and organized they will retaliate and incidences of violence may further increase as this will challenge male dominance. That is why it is even more critical now to develop effective global standards to prevent violence against women in all its forms. I am in favor of a global binding norm on VAW.”
